Cajalco Road Improvement Project

The County Transportation Department is initiating work on a project to improve Cajalco Road between I-15 and I-215.

A contract to start the Project Approvals and Environmental Document (PA/ED) process was approved on December 14, 2010 by the Board of Supervisors.

An environmental document will be prepared for the entire segment between I-15 and I-215.  This work will include preparation and analysis of alignment alternatives, primarily in the section south of Lake Mathews and westerly to I-15. However, it is anticipated that right-of-way acquisition and construction will need to be done in phases as funding becomes available.

Attached is a map showing the existing Cajalco Road alignment and project limits.  The types of environmental studies that will be prepared to assess impacts and weigh alignment alternatives include biological resources, cultural resources, noise, aesthetic/visual, and other areas of concern.  Public scoping meetings will be held in 2011 to gather input on what issues should be considered in the EIR.

This website will be updated as new information becomes available, and will provide information on upcoming public meetings.  As this project progresses the Transportation Department will be available to update the community through participation in community meetings, project newsletters, and other forums.

We welcome your input.  If you would like to be included in any future meeting notifications or provide comments, please e-mail Scott Staley project manager.
